Pitney Bowes Developer Guide and API Credentials
Overview
Pitney Bowes can be connected to AfterShip Shipping through AfterShip's Pitney Bowes developer account. To complete the setup, you need to link your Pitney Bowes merchant account to AfterShip and then enter your Merchant ID in AfterShip Shipping.
Connect Your Pitney Bowes Account to AfterShip Shipping
Follow these steps to link your Pitney Bowes merchant account and add it to AfterShip Shipping:
- Open the AfterShip Pitney Bowes merchant registration link: AfterShip Pitney Bowes merchant registration link.
- Create a new Pitney Bowes merchant account, or sign in with your existing Pitney Bowes merchant account.
- Complete the registration/sign-in flow from that link so your merchant account is associated with AfterShip.
- Open your Pitney Bowes Merchant Portal and copy your
Merchant ID. - In AfterShip Shipping, add a new Pitney Bowes carrier account.
- Enter the required account information listed below.
- Save the carrier account.
Required account information
When adding your Pitney Bowes carrier account in AfterShip Shipping, you will need to provide the following:
- Shipper ID/Merchant ID: Use the
Merchant IDshown in your Pitney Bowes Merchant Portal. In Pitney Bowes API terminology, this merchant identifier is used as theSHIPPER_IDvalue. - Minimal address validation: Choose whether Pitney Bowes should preserve the street address line and only correct the city, state, and postal code. When this setting is disabled, Pitney Bowes performs full USPS address validation.
Important notes
Before completing the setup, keep the following in mind:
- You do not need to create a separate Pitney Bowes developer account for AfterShip Shipping.
- You do not need to enter a
Pitney Bowes API key,API secret, orOAuth tokenin AfterShip Shipping. - If you already have a Pitney Bowes merchant account, you should still open the AfterShip registration link and sign in there once so that your merchant account is linked to AfterShip.
- If the
Merchant IDis invalid or cannot be found, first confirm that the merchant account has been linked to AfterShip through the registration flow and that the correct Merchant ID was entered.
