Get Access to UPS Shipping API with OAuth 2.0

Overview

This guide will assist on how you can access UPS Shipping API with OAuth 2.0.

💡 UPS has implemented an OAuth 2.0 security model. This requires you to use OAuth to authorize AfterShip Shipping for actions like accessing UPS rates or printing UPS labels. All UPS customers must reauthorize their accounts by July 31, 2024.

How to create a new UPS Account and register to a UPS.com profile

1. If you don’t have a UPS profile yet, create a new account using this link .
2. After creating the account and signing in, navigate to Accounts and Payment .
3. From the Add a Payment Method dropdown, select Add Existing Account . You will be prompted to enter your UPS Account Number , a nickname , and your postal code .
4. To verify your account, you'll need either your Invoice Data or PIN , which should have been sent to the original email address used during account creation.
5. Once UPS successfully verifies your Invoice Data or PIN, the registration process on UPS.com will be complete.

If you already have an existing UPS.com profile, ensure you have the account's username and password, and make sure your UPS account number is registered to the UPS.com profile.

How to authorize UPS in AfterShip Shipping

1. Log in to AfterShip Shipping and go to the Carriers section.
2. Click Add Carrier and search for UPS .
3. Click the UPS logo , then select Login with UPS .
4. Follow the prompts on the UPS authorization page. Review and check the agreement, then enter your UPS username and password.
5. You will be redirected back to AfterShip Shipping. Enter your UPS account number and address information as required.

How to find your UPS address

Please log in to your UPS portal and find Addresses as referenced below.

The UPS account number and address cannot be updated after account creation. This is because, during the account setup, UPS verifies that the account details—including account number, address, phone number, and email—match the information in their system. If you have made any changes to your account details with UPS, please reconnect your UPS account with us.

To continue accessing shipping and accessing rates with UPS, verify your UPS shipping account by Jul 31, 2024.

2. How can I ensure that this change doesn't affect my use of UPS via AfterShip Shipping?

Please register your UPS shipping account to an existing UPS.com profile if you haven't done so already. You'll need your UPS.com profile's username, password, and UPS account number for verification.

Go to the AfterShip Portal, click Update , and authorize your account with your UPS account ID. Please make sure the login username, password is associated with the account number to use.

3. What should I do if I have multiple UPS account numbers?

If you have multiple UPS account numbers, register all of them under a single UPS.com profile.

1. Log in to UPS with your username and password, and select Accounts and Payment .
2. From the "Add a Payment Method" dropdown, select "Add Existing Account". You'll be asked to add your "UPS Account Number", a nickname, and postal code.
3. Please do the same for your other account numbers.
